Administrative Support Specialist - Grant

Under administrative direction, the purpose of this contract position is to provide administrative support to the agency's Drug Court Treatment Division. Contract employees in this classification perform both routine and non-routine administrative support duties as dictated by the nature of the work unit, and with a level of accountability commensurate with that of a Sergeant or civilian equivalent. Position exercises independent judgment concerning assigned duties, and receives periodic supervisory review for adherence to prescribed standards. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). May require physical agility and balance for tasks, such as climbing, kneeling, bending, stooping and/or reaching for objects at or above floor level. Tasks involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

SPECIFICS
This is a grant funded employment contract position. Employment is contingent upon the continued receipt of adequate annual grant funding. Selected candidates will be contract employees with the terms and conditions of such employment set forth in a contract between BSO and the selected candidates. Contract employees will not be entitled to the same rights and benefits as permanent employees. BSO shall have the right to modify pay or benefits at any time due to the increased benefit costs, budgetary or grant funding reductions or other fiscal problems/restraints. In addition, the contract can be terminated at any time for any reason.
1. High school diploma or equivalent. An evaluation of foreign high school diploma may be required.
2. One (1) year previous experience in administrative support functions. Experience must include proficiency in typing, generating, and distributing correspondence and memos, record keeping and maintenance of files, and answering telephone inquiries.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. (Such experience should be clearly stated on the application).
4. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Such experience must be clearly documented for consideration.
