Under administrative direction, the purpose of this position is to direct agency compliance with regulatory standards concerning employment practices, i.e., Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and other employment laws within the Equal Employment Opportunity Division of the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Employee in this classification is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring agency wide equal employment opportunity processes to ensure equity and adherence to established employment laws and regulations. Position provides technical advisement to management for the purpose of preventing, disclosing and/or correcting discriminatory practices. Employee exercises critical judgment and considerable initiative with general direction and assignments from the Director of Human Resources. Position functions as a professional and technical resource to the Sheriff and all agency employees. Performs related work as directed.Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Experience should be clearly demonstrated on the initial application for consideration.
· Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree in related field preferred.
· Seven (7) years demonstrated experience and training in implementing and managing EEO programs to include the development of program plans and goals; demonstrated experience and training in equal employment legislation and compliance, workplace harassment, or employment discrimination litigation preferably in a large governmental agency.
· Managerial experience in investigation, analysis, research, writing, mediating, facilitating and negotiating solutions, and training and developing others.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective relationships.
· Applicant must possess and maintain throughout employment, a valid Florida driver license without any restrictions affecting job performance. Selected candidates may be asked to provide a certified "entire" driving history report.
· An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Such experience must be clearly documented for consideration.
